All aboard for a day of family fun with Thomas!
Due to restrictions on large public gatherings, The Delaware River Railroad Excursions will not be hosting a Day Out With Thomas this year. We had hoped that things would get better in August, but, unfortunately , not good enough to warrant an event of this size. We hope that Thomas will be able to visit The Delaware River Railroad Excursions in 2021. Thank you for your understanding during these uncertain times and please stay healthy.
We will do our best to make this an exciting day for your little Thomas fan! Children have had a tough time this year, and we want to bring a little excitement and fun into their lives! Due to the Coronavirus, unless the CDC advises otherwise, the hands on exhibits such as the imagination station, and inflatables will not be available, this is for your families safety. We will provide temporary tattoos, coloring pages, and a free Thomas giveaway in a take home bag, so that you may continue your Day Out with Thomas birthday celebration in the safety of your own home!
Day Out With Thomas is a family event that
offers children and their grownups the opportunity
to ride with classic storybook friend Thomas the
Tank Engine . Parents, grandparents and siblings
join their aspiring engineers in the fun. The Day
Out With Thomas experience will engineer miles of
smiles for the whole family and introduce a new
generation to the timeless excitement of
railroading. The train pulled by Thomas leaves every
hour on the hour, 10 am to 5 pm. You may also ride
the River Train along the scenic Delaware River to
Carperntersville, New Jersey ( an hour and fifteen
minute round trip). For an added adventure take the
River Train to the Susquehanna Mine, learn the History and learn how
to pan for Gem Stones that you can take home! The
trips pulled by Thomas take you along the beautiful
Delaware River to North Carpentersville New Jersey,
a 25 minute ride. The River Train follows the same route
journeying further along the river to Edingers with
a brief stop at the "Old Susquehanna" gem stone
mine. At the mine you may get off , visit the mine
and learn how to pan for gems. Each passenger
receives a bag of mine tiling's , a brief history of
the mine and use of the sluice to prospect for their
very own gem stones they can bring home!
You may also purchase tickets the day of the event for all trains although we advise that you purchase your tickets in advance. Trains to and from the mine depart every hour. Stay at the mine as little as an hour or as long as you like!
Enjoy a ride on our historic passenger coaches. Capacity will be limited to 50% to increase social distancing.
Gemstone Panning is a great
activity for all ages.
Participants may find up to 11
ounces of gemstones in a single
bag which may include amethyst,
rubies, rose quartz, emeralds,
crystals, and an arrowhead. All
gems are of high quality and may
be suitable for cutting,
polishing, and mounting. With
every mine train ticker you will
receive one bag of mining ore
from the Ole' Susquehanna Mine.
Upon arriving at the mine site your guide will tell you the story of Sylas Smith and how he found the mine and about his tragic death which left the mind uncovered until this very year! Next you will walk over the the Ole' Susquehanna mines operating sluice and learn how to pan for gem stones. once you understand how to pan give it a try and see if you can find some gems!
There is so much to do you can
spend the whole day! We
will do our best to provide as much
hands on entertainment as is
possible considering CDC guidelines.
We will have our famous
ventriloquist, and his zany talking
animals, meet and greet with Sir
Enjoy Ventriloquist Scott Wagstaff
& His Zany Animals, our Dinosaur
Days Velociraptor Show
and the the Grand
Master Band Wagon.
Great fun for the whole family!
My 3 yr old enjoyed the Thomas the Train ride, the bouncy house and chasing bubbles. Employees were friendly. One of the two teenagers working at the bouncy house helped my son go thru the bouncy house. I am very grateful for the extra hand to walk him thru patiently!!!
Great attraction for my 4 yo daughter and 2yo boy. My kids were amused that they could see Thomas "in person". I strongly recommend it! We are definitely going back!
Done it for three years with my son who looks forward to going. Lots of activities available and mining for gems option on another train ride near corn field. It's a nice town in NJ neighboring Easton, PA which is home to the crayola experience which is also a great fun kid activity. Good over night location! Check out other train rides throughout the year!!! Highly recommend!!
